Application Review Process

We feel very confident with the procedures used during the application process. It was a pleasant experience and we are thankful for all the work it took to help us with our adoption. We will be able to pay off the remainder of our adoption expenses soon and be able to rest knowing that all is taken care of and Jubilee is in our family forever. She will grow up having a mommy and a daddy. She will grow up with a loving family who will cherish her and meet her needs.

Upon receipt of your completed application packet, GOA will log your information and tentatively schedule a review by the committee at the next monthly meeting.

  • Applications are reviewed monthly.

Grant Selection Committee
All applications will be reviewed by the Grant Selection Committee. Every effort will be made to present your application to the committee at the time most favorable for your particular situation.

Did you know?
75% of Gift of Adoption expenses go directly toward grant programs.

You will be notified via email when your application will be presented to the committee and, at that time, be asked to provide any needed updates. It’s important that you respond to this email in a timely manner.

Grant Decision Process
The Grant Selection Committee, made up of one elected representative from each regional chapter, will review your application and either:

  • approve it for a grant,
  • decline to award a grant, or
  • recommend a local Gift of Adoption Chapter approve your application for a grant.

You’ll be notified of this decision via email within 48 hours of the Grant Selection Committee meeting.

If You’re Approved for a Grant
If your application is approved by the Grant Selection Committee it may then be advanced to the regional chapter for a final funding decision. If this is the case, you’ll receive an email alerting you of this decision within 48 hours of the National Grant Selection Committee meeting.

Did you know?
100% of Giving Circle donations go directly to Gift of Adoption grants.

At this time, you’ll also be invited to forward any additional information you would like the local chapter board to consider in making their decision.

  • You’ll receive notification via email of the regional chapter’s decision within two weeks of the Grant Selection Committee meeting.

If Your Grant is Declined
If your application is declined, you will be given the reason(s) why.

Because we get many more applications each month than we have funding available, it’s not uncommon for the reason to be, quite simply, that we do not have enough funds to award every grant that meets our funding criteria.

  • Don’t lose heart though, your application fee entitles you to have your case presented to the committee up to three times so long as the adoption is not yet finalized and there remains an outstanding balance related to your adoption expenses.

If your situation changes materially after hearing your application was declined, we encourage you to notify us so that we can present it to the Grant Selection Committee again at a future date.

Did you know?
Gift of Adoption doesn’t match up children with families but makes the miracle of adoption possible to those struggling to meet the sizeable financial burden.
