Join the Gift of Adoption Staff Team

Gift of Adoption is a national 501(c)3 charity that is looking to bring a Chief Advancement Officer and a Major Gift Officer to the team to drive critical revenue programs to scale impact: serving 5,000 children and becoming a $10M charity by 2030.

We believe that having a loving family is a necessity for all children everywhere—and for the past 30 years we have supported that belief by removing financial barriers to adoption by awarding grants on a nondiscriminatory basis to complete the adoptions of children in vulnerable circumstances—giving them permanent families and the chance to thrive.

Our work contributes to positive outcomes on education, employment, crime, health, and housing when children become adopted—which together explain adoption’s momentum as a philanthropic priority. And why it needs more attention.

The Chief Advancement Officer and the Major Gift Officer are front-line fundraisers who will grow portfolios of high-impact donors, develop and implement new fundraising programs, and identify new prospective supporters to advance Gift of Adoption’s mission.

These development officers would join a highly credentialed, healthy, forward-thinking, and ambitious organization that lives its core values and has a record of impressive growth (doubling impact from 2015-20, and from 2021-2025) at a pivotal time in our expansion.

If you are an experienced development or sales executive from the business or non-profit sector and these opportunities sound promising and exciting to you—we invite you to learn more below:

The Gift of Adoption Mission | About GOA

Gift of Adoption (GOA) is a national charity that provides grants to complete the adoptions of children in vulnerable circumstances. Priority is placed on helping children facing what is possibly their only chance at adoption, including children being adopted by relatives, at-risk of separation from siblings, entering foster care, aging-out of an orphanage, or with special needs. We are the largest provider of adoption assistance grants on a non-discriminatory basis (without regard to race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or any characteristic protected by law). Our grants are paid directly to agencies and attorneys working on the child’s behalf.

Learn How Adoption Significantly Improves Life Outcomes

In 2023, Gift of Adoption commissioned a study by the National Council for Adoption (NCFA) to provide quantitative data on the impact of adoption. The chart below highlights how positive outcomes increase and undesirable outcomes decrease when a child is adopted out of foster care, rather than aging out at age 18. Read the full report.
