GOA Amplify Award
The Amplify Award recognizes a person or team who has had ‘big wins’ in increasing GOA’s awareness and fundraising by leveraging best practices, partnerships, and the creative pursuit of media. The icon for this award is a megaphone because a megaphone increases volume and directionality of sound – creating a clear, much louder, larger voice for GOA. One of GOA’s four growth strategies is Awareness Marketing. The mantra of our Awareness Marketing strategy is not to build a wave, but rather, to CATCH A WAVE. By catching a wave GOA can leverage existing platforms and networks of bigger organizations to substantially increase GOA’s awareness for a fraction of the cost / and a fraction of the time.
2024 GOA Amplify Awardee – Pia Oreskovich
Taking what’s working well in one market and expanding it to a new market is quintessential amplification. That’s exactly what Pia did shortly after she and her family moved from the Milwaukee Wisconsin area to Louisville Kentucky in 2019.
Leveraging her financial business acumen, passion for adoption and all that she learned about leading a successful chapter from her years of service on the GOA Wisconsin Chapter Board – Pia became a founding member of the charity in Kentucky.
As Pia shared about the launch of the GOA KY Chapter in a WLKY media piece: “Our goal is to help close as many adoptions as possible, said Oreskovich. She recently brought the volunteer driven charity to Kentucky. We moved to Kentucky a year and 4 months ago, and when I got here, I realized that there is no ’Gift of Adoption’ in Kentucky, I called the CEO, she was super happy because she said the need is big in Kentucky,” said Oreskovich.
Pia continues to amplify the Gift of Adoption mission and messages by securing media whenever possible. Recent examples of GOA media generated through her efforts include publicity featuring GOA board volunteers and Kentucky grant recipient families.
And while those of us who have worked with Pia, and maybe have been introduced to the GOA cause through Pia — know that she becomes highly vested in the things she cares about and with that we know that amplification she’s generated for GOA isn’t limited to formal external media channels … we see her talk about the Gift of Adoption mission, with whomever she can and whenever she can.
Which is why the Chapter continues to be successful in engaging members of the community, adoption professionals, companies, and volunteer board leaders in furthering the mission – in terms of real, measurable impact.
Since inception Gift of Adoption Kentucky has awarded $389,000 in adoption assistance grants to unite 128 children with permanent, loving families across Kentucky. Each child adopted creates a ripple effect of positive outcomes and mitigates challenges children face when they grow up outside of a permanent, loving family of their own. THIS IS the real amplification for which we are HONORED to THANK and RECOGNIZE Pia for her leadership, fortitude, and indomitable spirit.
