Gift of Adoption Fund – Tennessee Chapter

About Us

Welcome to the Home Page of the Gift of Adoption Tennessee Chapter.

The Tennessee Chapter of Gift of Adoption joined the Gift of Adoption network in June 2016 as the 13th chapter. The TN Chapter awards grants to Tennessee families. These grants give parentless children from around the world and the United States permanent homes and the chance to thrive.

Since its inception, Gift of Adoption has awarded more than $158,000 to complete adoptions of more than 50 children into Tennessee famiies. These grants have given parentless children from around the world and the United States permanent homes and the chance to thrive.

The Tennessee chapter is currently seeking leaders throughout the state to get involved as chapter leaders and help the Tennessee chapter grow and reach more families. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Marcy McKay.

Board members are responsible for building awareness and raising funds for this rapidly growing, energetic, national, nonprofit dedicated to putting adoption in reach for the millions of children world-wide without a family.  Gift of Adoption inspires adoption by providing grants to qualified parents – giving children without families permanent homes and the chance to thrive.

Board members can be located anywhere in the state, but must be willing to participate in monthly calls and quarterly in-person meetings to support the development of a strong state presence – as we create awareness of this new philanthropic category and resource our vision.

Your United Way or CFC contribution to Gift of Adoption will have a direct and lasting impact on the life of a vulnerable child. Adoption immediately and permanently changes the trajectory of a child’s life for the better and for generations to come. Putting at-risk children into permanent, loving families not only gives them love, nurturing and care today, but it significantly reduces tomorrow’s need for a wide spectrum of social services and assistance.

We’re writing today to share a sweet story in the hopes that you too will say, “YES,” to Amanda and Calvary…two precious girls who need our help getting home.

Amanda is 13 years old and about to age out of the adoption system in China—meaning her chances of ever having a family are fading quickly. She has spina bifida, clubbed feet, dislocated hips and other issues common to spina bifida. She is wheelchair bound, but this does not dampen her spirits. She is brilliant, funny, joyful, sweet and very simply, just happy. She has been in an orphanage since she was abandoned at the age of one. If Amanda were to age out, she would be placed in an institution for children with special needs and would not receive the medical care she deserves. Amanda has never been allowed to go to school because of her disability, but despite this, she has developed the most caring, loving, disposition—always helping to take care of the other children around her. She remains full of joy despite her diagnosis and isolation from other kids her age.

Calvary is almost two years old and was born with cytomegalovirus which led to brain damage and hydrocephalus. She is beautiful inside and out, smart and funny. Calvary has been in the orphanage since birth. At 9 months old she was placed in foster care, but little else is known about her time there.

Natalie and Robert see a different life for these girls then the one that lies before them now. They see a bright future, full of hope, school, therapy, medical care, friends, birthday parties, and more. Amanda shares, “We have the room in our home and the love of a family to give—we want to make them our daughters.”

We recognize that so many of you already support Gift of Adoption in a plethora of ways; but, if the timing is right for you to support Amanda and Calvary’s journey home, we, and especially they, would be most grateful. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to fund one more adoption assistance grant before our fiscal year ends on June 30th. Every gift, no matter the size will help change the trajectory of Amanda and Calvary’s lives forever.

So let’s take action. Let’s take action so that hope PREVAILS. So that it’s alive and well in the lives these girls will lead and in the legacies we’ll all leave behind.
