Non-Discriminatory Provider – Grant Applicants and Recipients (Children and Families)

Nondiscriminatory Grant Practices

Since our founding in 1996, GOA has awarded grants without discrimination. Gift of Adoption does not consider an applicant’s race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or any characteristic protected by law when making grant award decision. This information is not provided to members of our Grant Selection Committee in order to avoid any unconscious bias in our grant making.

Fair Grant Selection Outcomes

A 2022 pro bono analysis by KPMG found GOA’s grant approvals mirror the demographics of applicants across ethnicity, religion, and income, indicating no unconscious bias in selection. It also found the percentage of applicants who receive grants is the same across races. These outcomes affirm that all qualified families have an equal opportunity to receive assistance.

Outreach to Underrepresented Families

Gift of Adoption actively conducts outreach to make sure all families who might need grant assistance know about us. This includes outreach to referral sources and organizations who work with applicants from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups.
