#MyGOAHurdle Social Media Campaign

Beginning November 1 – join our #MyGOAHurdle social media campaign. The idea is simple:
  1. Snap a photo of you (friends and family can be included, too!) tackling a hurdle in your own surroundings. This can include leaping over a rock on a hiking trail, jumping over a pile of leaves, etc. The “hurdle” theme can be interpreted a number of creative ways!
  2. Write a short caption that ties your photo to the last hurdle many families face when adopting – funding.
    1. Tag @giftofadoption (Instagram and Twitter) or @giftofadoptionfund (Facebook) and 2-4 friends who you’d like to challenge to participate in the campaign.
    2. Include the hashtag #MyGOAHurdle (make sure your post is PUBLIC so we can see it!).
Olympic marathon runnner Ryan Hall, hurdler Keni Harrison, legendary ice skater and sports commentator Scott Hamilton, NFL player Muhsin Muhammad, Olympic skier Julia Marino, Chicago radio personality Kathy Hart, and “Barefoot Executive” author Carrie Wilkerson are all on board to post their GOA hurdle photos in November.

Help us bring our daughter home!

Hello everybody, we are Sergey and Elena Kulesh!

Our story began 25 years ago, when we first got married and were looking forward to soon becoming parents. Unfortunately, all our attempts through the years did not bring us a baby we so desperately wanted. We kept praying and believing, tried everything modern medicine had to offer, went through 2 surgeries, 7 infertility treatments and so much more… Years and $50 000 later we still had no one to share our great love with. We were exhausted, devastated and financially struggling. So we decided to turn our attention away from our problems and towards those in need – and joined a missionary team to Ukraine.

Starting in 2013 we visited Odessa, Ukraine on several occasions, spending time in local orphanages and taking care of children who never knew love and acceptance. God opened our hearts towards these precious little lives, so full of hope and desire to find a family. The idea of adoption became more and more familiar to us as we spent time around these children. We looked into the process and even tried applying a few times in the US, Russia and Kyrgyztan, but none of these attempts bore fruit. Later we found out the reason why: God has prepared a special child for us in Ukraine! Our friends told us about a beautiful 12-year old girl, Violetta, in dire need of a family. We started praying about her, and God revealed to us that she was meant to become our daughter! So we set out on this long journey to bring our little girl home.

It turned out that this process takes a lot of patience, paperwork and most importantly – money. An average international adoption costs anywhere between $20,000 to $30,000. This year we went back to Ukraine to continue the interview process and found out that we will need 3 more trips to make this happen. Our hearts are filled with love and hope, we are working very hard to make this adoption a reality – and we need your help! Please consider standing with us in prayer over the process, finances and our future family!

Let’s join together to bring Violetta into our loving home!

Thank you so much for taking time to read our story and supporting our cause! We love and bless you!

Happy Adoption Day Celebrations

Gift of Adoption has been a part of more than 2,000 adoption stories. Throughout November, we will be coordinating “Adoption Day Drop-In Celebrations” where volunteer teams will drop in and deliver a Nothing Bundt Cake and yard sign to Gift of Adoption families. Check back for photos from these celebrations.
