Adoption Success Story: Leylanie
Leylanie, 12 years old, spent four years in a Costa Rican orphanage after being abandoned by her family. Leylanie was well cared for in her orphanage; however, she would age out of the orphanage system as a teenager. She faced a future lacking certainty, security, and a family.
Christina and Corey’s lives had always been tied to adoption. Christina wanted to adopt since working as an international adoption specialist, but adoption did not become her family’s reality until she visited orphanages in Costa Rica and learned about Leylanie’s story. Christina and Corey immediately felt that Leylanie was meant to join their family.
Like many families, Christina and Corey had to face the the high costs of international adoption in order to bring Leylanie home to Indiana. With the help of a grant from the Gift of Adoption, Christina and Corey were able to bring Leylanie home to their family in May 2019.
“Leylanie longs for a family that is willing to provide love, protection, security and care. She is about to age out of her orphanage,” Christina said.
